libzbar0 software package provides bar code scanner and decoder (library), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libzbar0
libzbar0 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libzbar0 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libzbar0 *
You will get with libzbar0 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
